Alexandre Vaz

Alexandre Vaz graduated in sociology in 2013 and is currently completing a Masters. He began observing birds when he was only 12 years old and has been working professionally for many years as an ornithologist. He first studied drawing and illustration but soon realized he was passionate about photography. He became a photojournalist in the 90's and has collaborated with numerous magazines and newspapers, seeing many of his work and stories be awarded in Portugal and abroad. In the last three years he has taken part in several scientific expeditions to Africa that focused both on bird speciation and conservation, including Angola, São Tomé and Principe, Gabon and of course Cape Verde.

"The Desert Islands" is his first wildlife documentary.
